Christ Church Belper // The old Bell, Derby

“Our Wedding Venue has flooded” – those were the words that Lucy said to me when she rang me in November after hearing the devastating news about The Hurt Arms flooding and the uncertainty of not having a venue for her wedding in 2 months time.

Thankfully, tears soon turned to happiness when she let me know she had sorted a new venue and things were back on track for their big day.

On the day of the wedding, I met Lucy at her mums house near Ambergate in Derbyshire and spent the morning with the bridal party.

It was lovely and relaxed atmosphere and a great environment for me to capture some “getting ready” moments. The Prosecco was flowing and ‘Alexa’ kept the music alive whilst the bridal party enjoyed plenty of laughs.

With hair and make up done, Lucy was helped into her dress by her mum and she looked absolutely stunning. It was then time for her to get into the car which was waiting to take her up to the church.

Adam was waiting patiently as I got to Christ Church in Belper and looked very calm – we had a quick chat just before Lucy arrived and was walked down the aisle by her mum.

I caught the moment that Lucy and Adam saw each other for the first time that day and both had massive smiles.

The ceremony was beautiful and when the couple had officially tied the knot, the wedding party then headed outside where the kids fired some confetti canons and the newlyweds and I headed into the River Gardens in Belper for a few photos – this was the place I had met them the year before for their preshoot!

We then all headed down to the Old Bell in Derby which has had a major transformation since I last went in there a few years ago – it looked awesome and had been decorated beautifully by Adam and Lucy.

As they spent time with their friends and family, I managed to capture lots of laughs, hugs and kisses before it was time for some emotional speeches which had Lucy and Adam (and a few others) in tears.

A short time later and the evening guests arrived and everyone partied well into the night

It was a fantastic wedding and a great way to celebrate photographing my 50th wedding since starting out this big venture in 2017.

Thanks for letting me be part of your awesome day. I wish you all the best for the future…………………… Matt
