Ripley Registry office Wedding, Derbyshire

Tuesday 11th August 2020

Covid has brought the world to a stand still and 80% of my 2020 weddings have been rearranged for next year.  So when Gemma contacted me a few weeks ago to see if I was available to capture their small wedding at Ripley Registry office as their planned wedding in Cyprus had been cancelled, I jumped at the chance.

Now I’m well aware that the new restrictions that Boris has created will mean that intimate weddings are going to be the norm for the time being. However, when Gemma told me that there would be 5 guests at the wedding and one of them was me, I knew I had to work doubly hard to create some magical pictures – it’s no surprises that the guests make up a big portion of a wedding portfolio.

On the big day, I met up with Carl outside the registry office in Ripley and I have to say, he was looking very swish indeed – I’m even contemplating a new suit like this for my 2021 weddings. Carl seemed super relaxed but very excited for the ceremony. A few snaps later, I noticed Gemma arriving with her dad and I had to quickly avert Carls eyes from seeing her pulling into the car park – I think I managed it?!

Carl then headed inside with the registrar and I went over to meet Gemma and her parents. Gemma looked beautiful and her dress really sparkled in the sunlight – I think I captured her perfectly as she was led by her dad towards the main doors.

I then put on my personalised MattMoore photography face mask (expertly made locally by Izzies Ideas) and captured the moment of Gemma entering the room and meeting Carls eyes. It was then time for the nuptials and it was a lovely and certainly very intimate ceremony.

The smiles on Carl and Gemmas faces said it all…..they were at last married and damn it felt great – I think it was a moment that felt like it may never come with the current pandemic going on!

We ventured outside where some family and friends joined us for more pictures before walking ‘reservoir dogs’ style to some lovely gardens for more pictures.

Carl and his lovely new wife Gemma then went to celebrate the rest of the day with family and friends.

Thank you for letting me be part of your day, it was a great wedding after 5 months off! I wish you both all the best for the future….Matt
