“Matt , we’re getting married at Shottle Hall next week, are you free?”
Richard and Rachel, like many others this year, had to rescheduled the big wedding they had planned for this year and move it into next year. But when I received a text message from Rachel telling me they had decided to get married this year after all…….in 7 days time, well, my diary just so happened to be free that day so I jumped at the chance to be part of their small and intimate wedding.
The chosen venue was Shottle Hall in Derbyshire and, having shot there before, I knew just how beautiful it was – coupled with the change of colours during Autumn and I knew this would be a lovely day.
Rachel explained to me that they had decided to keep their chosen day next August, but were instead now planning on using the date for a renewal of vows and big celebration including all of their family and friends.
I met Rachel and Richard up at Shottle on the afternoon of their Wedding, along with their family and witnesses. You never quite know how things will feel at a wedding in the current climate, but safe to say, I could instantly feel the excitement and nerves from the couple and I knew it was going to be a great day.
Rachel and Richard had chosen to marry in a small ceremony room which was ideal for the occasion and was bathed in natural autumn sunlight.
Now the ceremony was a little different but also very perfect as Richard and Rachel decided to walk into the ceremony together, being watched by their closest loved ones. I noticed a few tissues out in the room as the tears started to flow as family caught their first glimpses of the couple.
Vows, kisses and lots of holding hands saw the couple marry, before we headed outside to capture some pictures against the gorgeous Derbyshire countryside. ( in between Rachel getting her heels stuck in the decking lol! )
A lovely day was had by all and it just goes to show that you can have a truly fabulous wedding and inmate wedding even in a global pandemic. I look forward to the renewal next year and the party!!!!
All the best ……. Matt
